Rachel Spar, CRNP, Owner of Family Time Pediatrics
Rachel graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Biology from Yeshiva University in
2004. She then completed her BSN and MSN at Johns Hopkins University in 2009 and was a
member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner with a special interest in adolescent health and lactation counseling. Rachel has
been an adjunct professor of her alma mater, Johns Hopkins University, since 2011. She joined
the practice of Kenneth Tellerman in 2010 and took over ownership in 2023. Rachel enjoys
spending time with her husband and 7 children.
Cynthia Amitin, MD
Cynthia Amitin, M.D. is a Baltimore native who has practiced general pediatrics for over 25
years. Dr. Amitin earned her A.B in Psychology from Duke University and received her M.D.
from Temple University School of Medicine in 1995. She did her internship and residency
training at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Dr. Amitin has been certified
by the American Board of Pediatrics since 1998 and is a fellow of the American Academy of
Pediatrics. Dr. Amitin has served on the Board of Directors of WYPR and the Board of Trustees
of the Bryn Mawr School. She has been a longtime volunteer writing advisor for Building Steps
which supports students in Baltimore public schools as they apply to college. She is a member of
the Board of Trustees for Samuel Ready Scholars. Dr. Amitin enjoys spending as much time as
possible with her husband, 2 children and dog. Her hobbies include running and cycling.
Steven E. Caplan M.D.
Dr. Caplan graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1975. He
completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Rochester in 1977, and a
chief residency and fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, in 1979.
Dr. Caplan became Board Certified in Pediatrics in 1979. Dedication to providing the highest
quality medical care for all children remains the cornerstone to Dr. Caplan's work. He is the
Maryland coordinator of PROS, the office-based collaborative research network of the American
Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Caplan is a past President of the Sinai Hospital Medical Staff.
Kenneth Tellerman, MD
Dr. Tellerman has practiced pediatrics in Baltimore for over 25 years. He trained in pediatrics at
Johns Hopkins and in behavioral pediatrics at University of Maryland.. He currently serves as
teaching faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Maryland and has been the
Chairman of the Committee on Emotional Health for the Maryland Chapter of the American
Academy of Pediatrics for over 20 years. He has received several awards from the Maryland
AAP for his work on this committee as an advocate for improving mental health services to
children and adolescents in Maryland. Dr Tellerman has been instrumental in the development of
the BI-PED (Brief Interventions Pediatrics), a mental health training tool for pediatric providers
housed on the Maryland Chapter AAP website. He is also one of the co-leaders of the Maryland
AAP Child Poverty Task Force. Dr Tellerman has also participated on a medical team each
summer for over 15 years that provides health care to poor families and children in Honduras. He
is currently the medical director of this non profit group called OCHO (Organization for
Community Health Outreach). He lives in Baltimore with his wife and he has two daughters, a
son-in-law and 2 beautiful grandchildren.
Billie Ogunniyi, DNP, CRNP
Billie received her bachelors in nursing degree from Towson university and completed her
doctorate in nursing degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore. She joined the practice in
September 2023 and has enjoyed building relationships with our families, using a family-
centered approach to provide quality care for our patients. As a former NICU nurse, her special
interest area includes working with the families of preterm infants to track weight gain and
developmental milestones. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband
and daughter; they all love anything that involves music.
Stacy Schwartz, CRNP
Stacy was born and raised in Baltimore. She has been a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary
care pediatrics in the Baltimore community for 30 years. Stacy graduated in 1987 from the
University of Pennsylvania, earning a Degree in Nursing and a Masters Degree from the
University of Maryland as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1994. Stacy and her
husband have 4 grown children and recently became grandparents. She enjoys cooking, exercise
and being with family and friends.
Catherine Searson, CRNP
Catherine received an undergraduate degree in Nursing from Boston University and received her
Masters degree in pediatric primary care (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) from the University of
Maryland at Baltimore in 1996.
